Small Animal Chronic Pain - Impact and Integrative Care

Hannah Capon, Gwen Covey-Crump and Lowri Davies will give an overview of the most significant day to day issues faced by owners of animals with chronic pain and the vets that treat them.  We will explore the latest pharmaceutical solutions for chronic pain, how acupuncture compares with these, and its complementary potential.  The importance of rehabilitation techniques will be demonstrated so that we are not just treating sore joints, but considering the soft tissue and fascial aspects of mobility and chronic pain.  In all these areas we will show the many benefits of incorporating acupuncture into the therapy.  Finally, we will examine the home environment's impact on osteoarthritis in dogs and the benefits of education and involvement of the whole team - owner, dog walker, receptionist, nurse and vet.

The meeting will be hosted and chaired by Dietrich Graf von Schweinitz, who will also deliver a case report.  We promise delegates an entertaining, friendly and thought-provoking conference, with interactive question and answer sessions.  We hope to illustrate the latest multimodal approaches to the case of chronic pain in our animals, whilst also demonstrating the huge contribution that acupuncture can make.  It will be a real case of 'out with the old and in with the new'. We are looking forward to meeting you all.

The meeting will be accredited for 5 CPD hours and a recording will be accessible to all delegates after the meeting.
